Aesthetics
Central Questions: What is the purpose of art in society? How is it used as a tool for communication, a superstructure to uphold dominant powers, and simultaneously (it can be used as) a critique of societal structures? What makes “good art” and what are the most important artistic movements currently today? How do we value and monetize art? Why is this important? What is the value of authenticity, financially & aesthetically? As a culture, how do we judge and monetize talent?
